Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 from February 27, 2010 to Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet town situated on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. The West Island, to those who don't know about it, is an extensive region that runs from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. However, this is not the truth. Brugel was born in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. The first goal was to become performing, but she simply outgrew her dance partners. In an article published in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. When I grew out of male companions, I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to acting and in the case of Brugel it was a nudge from a high school drama teacher who pushed her in the right direction. It was her teacher who recommended her to audition for the role of Anne in their annual school production. Following a trial her options, she was eventually the leading lady in Anne of Green Gables. The show was a recipient of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program, where she graduated at the age of 20 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. For the last twenty years she has had her in more than 60 movies and TV productions. Her most famous role was Rita (shown in the video below) in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian part of the cast in the season 1 of the series and not seen much.

The most notable recognition was given to her for her role as Layla Grant in the drama series Nashville (2012) as well as Claudia Shepard in Sharknado (2013).
